Balder's Myth.

Balder, the son of Odin and Frigg, was loved by everyone.  He was called the unkillable kid.  When Balder was older he started having terrifying dreams about death.  Worried, his mother Frigg went up to everything, living or not, and begged for them not to hurt her precious son.  The only thing she did not ask was the mistletoe plant, she thought it was too young.  However, the evil God Loki found a way to see what could hurt Balder.  Soon Loki found out mistletoe was the key. Loki came upon a mistletoe plant and handed it to Balder's blind brother Hod and guided his hand while he through it at Balder, killing him instantly.  The only way he could come back was if everything in the world weeped for him to return.  The gods went out and asked everything and everyone to weep for Balder.  They had succeeded until they came upon an old hag named Thokk sitting in a cave alone.  She refused to weep for Balder.  Some say that the old Thokk was the evil God Loki in disguise.

  1. Interesting story. Who would have thought of mistletoe being so deadly.

  2. Good job keeping the myth to the point and not dragging it out. Sounds pretty interesting!
